Egypt's Essam El Hadary, a goalkeeper, was 45 when he competed in the 2018 World Cup in Russia. When he blocked a Saudi Arabian penalty shot in the competition, he earned the distinction of being the oldest player to have saved a penalty.

Brazil currently leads the World Cup in goals scored! They are one of the most competitive competitors for the trophy, having scored 229 goals in their World Cup history.

When South Korea and Japan jointly hosted the 2002 World Cup, it was the first World Cup ever



held in Asia. Additionally, it was the first time two nations co-hosted the event.
